The ability to measure temperature with the MR-compatible Model 1025 Monitoring and Gating system using fiber optic temperature probes is now available. Fiber optic probes do not contribute an artifact in the MR image and can not contribute to RF heating.
The Fiber Optic Temperature Module is positioned just outside the MR magnet bore near the Respiration/IBP Module. It can accommodate up to 4 temperature channels. Temperature measurements can be made simultaneously using the Fiber Optic Temperature Module and the ECG/Temperature Module. The user can select any of the measured temperature channels to control the Heater Module.
The fiber optic probes are 2 m long with a 1mm (0.040”) probe tip. The diameter of the fiber optic probe is half that of the smallest ECG/T Module probe and can be used as a rectal probe for mouse pups.
